                                                            This section is to share with you some great resources, websites or links that I value relating to Responsible Skiing - I hope you find them useful and if you have found any others that you would like to let me know about - please contact me.

                                                            Snowcarbon

                                                            Snowcarbon asks the questions “Why fly to a ski resort in Europe when you can take the train?”   Good question!   As mentioned in The Travel Factors – if you take the train you can cut the carbon emissions of your ski holiday by up to 90%.   This independent website that shows you which ski resorts are easiest to reach and how to book the lowest fares.   They explain how to book, whether you choose to travel by day or overnight, and provide exact journey details. There is an incredible amount of detailed information to ‘hold your hand’ through the journey.  

                                                            Mountain Riders

                                                            Mountain Riders is a French non-profit organisation that was created in the year 2000.   They work to inform and raise awareness of all the actors of the mountain on environmental issues and for the promotion of sustainable development in the mountains.   Amongst their resources is an Eco Guide to Mountain Resorts, a National Charter in Favour of Sustainable Development in Mountain Resorts and an Eco Guide to Mountain Gear.  Their Eco Guide to Mountain Resorts focuses largely on French resorts at the moment but provides a wealth of information across social and economic impacts as well as
                                                            environmental.


                                                            Much Better Adventures

                                                            Much Better Adventures aim to collect the world's local, ethical, action-packed travel choices under one roof.  They are not only focussing on winter sports but all adventure activities and they look for local experts who live and breathe adventure sport but who are committed to maximising benefits to their local community and minimising their environmental impact.   All featured places must comply with a strict set of criteria under two main headings of care for the environment and care for the community.

                                                            The Man in Seat 61

                                                            The Man in Seat 61 tells you everything you ever wanted to know about getting the train within Europe (and the world!).   This site will help you if you want to take the train to a ski resort not featured by Snowcarbon.   It contains detailed information about the routes and train with links to all the operators.

                                                            Ski Audit

                                                            Ski Audit - developed in association with the foundation Pro Natura Pro Ski - helps resorts investigate their environmental management and gives them access to an auditing methodology which was developed together with the International Skiing Federation (FIS).   The guide shares knowledge and instructs resorts how to go about improving environmental performance and reduce the impact of skiing.
